HAKUNA SUPPLY

Adopt The Problem-Free Philosophy With Hakuna Supply This Friday

2017 has proven to be a pretty stressful year—legalization couldn’t get here sooner! From medicated dinners to smoke out seshes, there are tons of events designed to wash away anxieties, unite with community and advocate for the plant. This Friday Abracadabs is bringing the feel-good vibes to the DeBell Golf Club for another round of Canna Golf. And the people they’ve teamed up with for this golf sesh is destined to ensure an elevated golfers paradise.

Hakuna Supply is one of the featured brands for this next tee off. The LA based company crafts artisan boxes from mahogany and walnut woods that provide cannabis users with classy discretion. There are multiple lines of boxes—many of which come with a lock and appear unassuming—designed to organize everything from flower, concentrates and vapes to smoking accessories. And unless you stick your schnoz up to the box, it hides the sour aroma of flower well, too.

“The idea for my products has always been to create something quality with clean packaging at an affordable cost,” says Illan Freeman, the CEO of Hakuna Supply. “Our goal is to create something that you can buy for yourself or give as a gift, and have it look nice yet also be discreet enough to put on a desk at work or on a shelf in your living room.”

Although inspired by the Lion King’s famous song “Hakuna Matata,” living the carefree, simple life isn’t the only concept Freeman’s company embodies. Hakuna Supply also supports a deeper appreciation of life through Earth preservation. “I wanted to get involved environmentally and make sure that what we’re doing isn’t just about making a dollar,” Freeman says. “I want to make this world a better place. So we’ve incorporated the ‘circle of life’ theme into our company. With every box you’ll get a plantable seed paper that’ll give you the opportunity to plant trees.”

There are three types of trees that are within Hakuna Supply’s circulation: two different kinds of Spruce trees and a Pine tree. Doing this isn’t only Hakuna Supply’s way of giving back to the community, it’s also their way of getting people to interact with the environment—an activity that’s seemingly fading from society. Trees are of immense importance to the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of humanity, and Freeman’s team at Hakuna Supply are helping facilitate that.

You can expect an array of handcrafted Hakuna boxes loaded with grinders, stash jars and other smoking trinkets at the golf course this Friday. So come prepared to experience the “problem-free philosophy” in the golfer’s wonderland.

“We’re excited to unite with the community through Canna Golf,” says Freeman. “It’s going to be an awesome stress-free vibe.” Story by Mary C AbracadabsMagazine.com

HI-REZ INDUSTRIES

Hi-Rez Industries Takes Quality To The Next Level At Canna Golf This Weekend

There’s a huge difference between a bottle of two-buck-chuck and a bottle of Caymus Reserve label—at least to wine-o’s anyway. The same concept applies to cannabis products, too—particularly concentrates. It’s impossible to create stellar, terpified extracts unless you start with quality flower. Hi-Rez Industries, a Southern California-based concentrate company being featured in Friday’s Canna Golf tournament, has made quality the sole focus of their company.

Unlike many cannabis events, quality is of utmost importance to the Abracadabs team, thus why it’s important to us to help guide our friends in the community to companies like Hi-Rez. The cumulative industry experience of the Hi-Rez team is close to 20 years, according to Colton who works as the company’s manager. “The team we’ve built at Hi-Rez is focused on providing clean, very high quality concentrates to the market,” says Colton. “We’re also kind of cannabis nerds. We’re fascinated by how cannabis works, how we can consume it, what flavors in the flower translate well to concentrates, and the new frontier of science and discovery that cannabis provides in general.”

The Hi-Rez squad, Colton explains, isn’t as concerned with high-pressure marketing (which is a current business trend in the industry) as they are letting the product speak for itself. “We’re constantly looking to improve the details that often times get overlooked,” he says. “We’re so deep in what we’re doing that we sometimes take for granted the little things we do that truly make a difference. It’s only when we come up for air and get that perspective by seeing what others are doing that we’re like ‘whoa, we make a really great product’.”

Although each member of the company has years of canna-industry experience, Hi-Rez is coming up on their second birthday this April (just in time for 420—holla!). But as they gear up for 2018, they’re looking to take their product to the next level. “There is always room for improvement, and we’re always trying to make our product better and branch out as much as we can,” Colton says. “We’re looking to expand our lab and get into making full spectrum extracts to add to our product line. It’s a really crazy, but fun time to be doing this.”

If you attend Canna Golf this Friday you’ll have the opportunity to taste test some of Hi-Rez’s heavy hitters, which will likely make for a blissful (and hilarious) game on the green. “There should be some Apple Fritter shatter, which has been coming out really spectacularly lately,” says Colton. “There should also be some crumble and some budder.”

Hi-Rez’s passion for cannabis science and creating quality concentrates from clean, potent herb is one of the ways they stand out from the rest. “We do it for fun first,” Colton says. “Everything else just kind of follows.” Story by Mary C AbracadabsMagazine.com

Get Your Golf On With Abracadabs!

Not sure how to celebrate the first day of the weekend? Here’s an idea: Take Friday off and join the Abracadabs Festival crew at the DeBell Golf Club in Burbank for a day of Canna Golf with like minded people on the green. But even if golf’s not your thing, tomorrow’s event offers a lot more than just putting around.

“The great part about our Canna Golf event is that you’ll actually get the chance to hang out with people and get to know them,” says John Mendoza, the CEO of Abracadabs Festival, an annual cannabis gathering focusing on cannabis education, community and celebrating the plant’s various forms. Starting in 2013, Abracadabs solidified its sixth year last March, and Mendoza’s looking for ways to keep the festival magic alive. “At the typical cannabis event, you’re busy, busy, busy running around talking to patients, potential clients and making sure everything’s running smoothly. Canna Golf gives us a chance to slow it down and focus on building relationships—because relationships are everything.”

Mendoza emphasizes the importance of relationships multiple times through out our conversation. Thus, tomorrow’s nine-hole golf game is truly about setting the foundation for relationships you’ll have in the years to come. And considering how cut throat the cannabis industry’s become within the last year-and-a-half, Mendoza explains, building relationships and surrounding yourself with reliable people is the only way you’re going to survive going forward.

Although sponsor bags will be given to everyone who shows up, tomorrow’s event is BOYC (bring your own cannabis). Dab rigs will be available to those who are medicating and people will definitely be burning on the green. “Golf isn’t what it used to be,” Mendoza laughs, “especially now that Tiger Woods isn’t really around anymore.  But also like fishing, society has shifted and people don’t value activities like that anymore. We’re narcissistic… and there’s no way for people to truly disconnect  because our phones are electronic leashes. Throwing this Canna Golf event is great because it’s breathing life into something that’s been taken for granted and forgotten about.”

Golfers have the option of purchasing a single person or group pass. Your ticket gets you a round of nine-holes, a golf cart, a sponsor bag with sweet products and lunch with everyone when it’s done. There’ll be a few celebrities in attendance tomorrow, too. Meredith from Merry Jane magazine will be there, Chuy Bravo from the Chelsea Lately Show will be getting his golf on and John Salley will be hanging out as well.  You can purchase tickets here.

DeBell Golf Club is a lush oasis within a dense metropolis, giving golfers a glimpse of nature’s serenity. The phrase “greenery for the scenery” has never been more applicable than it is to tomorrow’s Canna Golf event. It’s going to be hot, so be sure to hydrate and bring plenty of water! “Tomorrow’s focus is on who’s there and making sure they have the best possible experience,” Mendoza says. “Canna Golf is about bring guys and girls together, building relationships, celebrating the plant and having fun.” Story by Mary Carreon  at PotPlus.com
